I have read this to children aged 1 - 6 and they all loved it - and so do I. Lovely rhyme, beautiful pictures and the clear message that God knows us and is always with us!

Average rating of 5/5 Best introduction for serious hobbyists, 2010-06-11
I have a range of books on electronics, circuits, robotics... and this one is my favourite. By far the best introduction to making electronics for serious hobbyists. Look elsewhere for detailed fundamentals (impedance, Kirchoff, digital logic) or industrial scale electronics... but read this book for the hands-on knowledge and wealth of ideas, tips and examples that it contains. Ideal reference for home automation projects, one-off prototypes (for example in an academic science, or research project), interactive installations. Written in a very clear and pleasant style, with great diagrams. Complements nicely two other volumes I enjoyed in the same editorial series: "Getting Started with Arduino" and "Making Things Talk: Practical Methods for Connecting Physical Objects".

Average rating of 5/5 Excellent book, 2010-04-08
This really is an excellent, well written book

If you want to connect different objects through different interfaces to do useful, fun and interesting things, this is the book for you.

Be warned that it is not a book for absolute rookies. You'll need to be comfortable (at a basic level) with programming and a bit of electronics. You'll also need to be happy working things out after being given some pointers (for example, there are PHP examples, but it is not a PHP manual). My background is science and engineering, and I've been inspired with some stuff for the lab and for home automation.

The typesetting, layout and figures in the book are really well done, credit to the author and o'reilly. But the kiss x at the end of each type section is a bit strange!

Enjoy it, it's a great read.

An excellent and concise guide to hooking up and programming the Arduino - probably the fastest way to get up and running. Highly recommended.

Our grandson lost his original Tractors, Big Rigs and Trucks under the sofa. We just had to buy another copy he loved it so much. Then we found it and now he has one here and at home just in case!

Average rating of 5/5 A really useful practical chemistry book, 2009-09-28
As a teacher of traditional Chemistry in a traditional sixth form, I am always on the lookout for resources that are approachable but rigorous and which are 'real life' chemistry. That's exactly what this book is. Of course, it's got lots of traditional chemistry in it, but it challenges the reader on how to approach chemistry through practical work using very basic equipment. As well as suggested practical procedures, there is just enough theoretical support to make solid learning happen. The range of experiments is impressive and easily adapted, if adaptation is necessary, to a traditional laboratory setting. It's also fun. Thoroughly recommended.
