Thought provoking, interesting and insightful read, 2010-06-18 I really enjoyed this book. The title says it all. I had this book in at work and several of my colleagues went and bought the book after flicking through it, (they couldn't even wait until I finished it!).
The book is well laid out and full of exercises and thought provoking comments. It is easily read but not to the point of dumbing down the message, it explained mindfulness in a very straight forward way.

Practical, clear and compassionate, 2010-07-23 As well as being useful to those who are recovering from depression, this book is also useful to anyone who wants to learn how to live a richer and more balanced life. It has been written in a clear and compassionate way, with descriptions of practical techniques, poems, stories and real examples from everyday life that anyone can relate to. Despite all this, it doesn't have a patronizing tone.
Mindfulness isn't an easy thing to learn for most people, but the authors write in an encouraging way and make it manageable by requesting the reader to adopt the techniques bit by by into their everyday life.

An essential companion to "Reinvent Your Life" by Jeffery Young, 2010-04-29 Goes into far greater depth about how to develop solutions to overcome lifetraps than "Reinventing Your Life does.
Its obviously written for therapists, but you can adapt the techniques into self-help techniques
Im not saying it should replace individual therapy, it just helps if you want to DIY schema therapy

A bible for students of CBT, 2010-04-20 This book was on my university reading list when I studied for my post-graduate diploma in CBT. It was an absolute bible for me and my coursemates! In fact it was one of two staple books that I could not have managed without (the other being Wells' Cognitive Therapy of Anxiety Disorders). It was such a relief to see clear, concise guidelines about what to cover in first and early sessions and is written very much in an instructional manner. Particularly when learning a guide of this manner can be a confidence boost. I did not find it a struggle to read - it is just as useful to 'dip into' when needing something from a relevant section.
I now recommend it to supervisees I work with and they have said how useful it has been to them.

Excellent book, 2010-06-11 I used this book 2 years ago and have recommended it to several people even buying it for a couple of friends. If you know you don't want to go down the drugs route and you really want to help understand your thoughts I highly recommend this book. Yes it takes time to go through but it is a work book and by the end of it you will notice yourself examining your thoughts and deciding whether or not you have a basis for the way you're thinking.

fantastic book on mindfulness - sold short on it's link with depression - can help with so much more., 2009-02-07 fantastic book on mindfulness - sold short on it's link with depression - can help with so much more.
Of course this book is great for anyone suffering depression - although the emphasis is on preventing relapse as opposed to cure or even treatment during an episode. The same mechanisms operate in anxiety, discontent and all manner of frustration intolerance. I would recommend to anyone - mindfulness will give great benefits to those who aren't suffering from any malady - it's not just a retroactive treatment - it's prevention and even actualization as well. I would also recommend HOW TO LIVE IN THE HERE AND NOW by Paul Jones.

I got treated with this book!, 2008-12-27 I was a teenager when i was diagnosed with BPD in the uk. I was treated 1:1, group and with DBT from this very manual. I have had many relapases but always fall back to the skils i was taught with this book, now i've bought i can re-fresh ALL the skills. This book is easy to read, but putting the skills in to practice can take time. But when it's there the skills will never leave you! All the Best, Enjoy!

A lightbulb moment..., 2009-10-26 I'm only a few pages in and this book has just switched on a 'lightbulb' in me. It's describing ME! I thought I was the only person who behaved like this but it seems I'm not. I've been binge eating since my late teens which is nearly 30 years now. I'm obese but not morbidly so. I'm desperate to break this cycle of secretive eating and I'm really hoping this book will get me to where I want to be. I know there is probably a lot of self-will needed when I get to the 'programme' part of the book but, for now, I know I'm not alone, that I'm not barmy and that my lack of self-control when it comes to food is a recognised thing. Give it a try yourself!

An inspiration coming to London, 2010-03-31 I was so inspired by David Wallin's book, that I was determined to learn more from him. We are now arranging a lecture and study day/workshop to be given by David Wallin, to take place on the evening of 23rd July and Saturday 24th July. The lecture will be sponsored by The Cancer Counselling Trust, and will take place in Central London. Read the book, and you will definitely want to put these dates in your diary.
