Excellent suggestions for storage, 2010-06-16
Have managed to read most of the ways to store garden produce suggested in this book. Nothing outside the realms of possibility, very clearly written advice. The suggested recipes for chutney, jam, wine, etc. are easy to follow, although you do have to refer back to the advice in the first half of the book, but once you get the hang of it, it makes sense. I would recommend this for those who are new to home production of fruit and veg, and don't want to throw anything away.

This is brilliant. My twins ask to be read it over, and over, and over again!!!!!
They first had it at 2 and now 3 still love it.
The illustrations are wonderful, the story is great and fun!

The best ever you can expect, 2010-07-14
We almost read all Julia Donaldson books .The first time when I read it, I was almost in tears.We have the book for one year long. We are still reading it from time to time.My 4 and 6 years old often sing along, their favouite song: how purr fectly happy we are.
Beautiful language,best English as language.The story line is so sweet, very touching ,melting everybody's heart. I am not a good writer, but we love this book soooo much.
It is a must have, best present for any 2,3,4,5,6 years old.

A absolutely brilliant book!, 2010-04-27
After my initial review I am forced to eat my words! I had originally said that I felt this was "too young" for my 3 year old, but I can honestly say this is one of his most enjoyable books. He loves it, and after reading it with him I realised that he is old enough to understand the word play in the book - if he was younger he may not have done i.e. "Goldiloctopus" It is colourful, clever, well put together and almost in the league of "Haunted House". In fact it is so good I bought one as a present for a friends 3 year old too. Highly recommended.

This Book was published just as we began creating a three acre forest garden. I can attest that the process the book takes one through will be invaluable to any one who is similarly engaged. In contrast to Dave Jacke and Eric Toensmeier's Two volume Edible Forest Gardens: Design and Practice Ecological Vision and Theory for Temperate-climate Permaculture (which in their own way is also an excellent pair of books - which has a US bias), Martins approach boils a potentially complex and overwhelming process down to its essentials without at the same time over simplifying. I'm sure that while we will make many of our own mistakes, this book has saved us a huge amount of trial and error, money, and probably a lot of heart ache and as well. Thanks Martin for your generosity in sharing so much in writing this book!
