You can use this book to make the most of your time in Rome. It is efficient at doing what's its there to do. It is detailed enough to get quite deep into the big picture and the smaller details are there too.
My french friend was left in the dust with her guide book while I found the best suited resteraunt for example, quicker and without getting lost.

Average rating of 4/5 Wrong Edition, 2010-01-11
This purchase would have been fine if I had received what I ordered! Instead of the 2009 English Edition I received the 2007 US & Canadian Edition!! I returned it and obtained a refund without any hassle as I decided not to risk a replacement. I gotone elsewhere on this occassion. The english 2009 D&K Sicily Guide is fine by the way, like most of the other 20 or so D&K travel Guides I have acquired. I particularly like the copious photos and graphics as well as the Street-by-Street walks. This particular purchase may have been a one off abberation of course, as all my previous Amazon purchases have been fine too.

Average rating of 4/5 R2D2 reader book, 2009-03-22
My kids are absolutely crazy about star wars, so this book was always going to be a hit. It's a level 2 reader, so the text is reasonably simple, but easy facts and story included. There's also lots of pictures so even my younger ones like looking at this book time and time again! Great buy!

My son, 6, has just become a fluent reader and now reads without help, so these Dk stage 1, 2 and 3 books are ideal as he's a big star wars fan and they are not too complex for him. They really boost his confidence.

Average rating of 5/5 Brilliant Little Book, made for a better trip!, 2010-02-12
This book was absolutely brilliant, without it I think we would have been roaming around getting lost constantly, as the streets of Venice are like a rat run!! We went to several of the restaurants mentioned in the book, the best being the Osteria, we would never have come across it without this book, well worth a visit, pricey though!! Brilliant little book just to keep in the bag for your trip to Venice!

Average rating of 5/5 Finally, learning to read is a pleasure!!, 2010-08-17
The DK Readers Star Wars books have been a real find for us. We have two Star Wars obsessed little boys at differing stages of learning to read, and to stumble across a set of books that they really, really want to read is such a bonus!

This book is all about Luke Skywalker. It is a level one book, (described as beginning to read), which means: Simple sentences and limited vocabulary; Picture glossary and simple index; Adult participation helpful (according to the book).

I bought this for my son who is in Reception class and he loves it! Due to the nature of Star Wars there are some harder words, (especially names), in this book but they have kept the sentences as simple as they can whilst making it a meaningful read for a little person. To give you an idea of the level of reading required an example sentence is: "R2-D2 has a secret message for a strange old man who lives nearby". However, there isn't a huge amount of text in the book and, whilst my son required quite a bit of help the first few times that we read the book he has now learnt a lot of the words in there and is getting fairly self-sufficient. The pictures are excellent - they are taken from the films and they dominate the book and complement the text, so these in themselves are almost bound to entice any young readers to pick up the book.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is wanting to encourage their children to read something a little different outside school, and would think that the reading level would be most appropriate for relatively confident Reception class readers and Year 1 readers...although any young Star Wars fan will undoubtedly love it!
