Great for KS1 children, 2010-05-12
Bought this for my 6 year old year 2 son to practice at home. It covers 2,5 and 10 times tables, then 3 and 4 in that order, with plenty of practical and engaging exercises rather than just boring sums! For example the child has to colour in a painting-by-numbers type picture colouring in only those numbers which are answers to the X times table to see what the picture shows. They also use shopping scenarios (the pears cost 3p. How much do 6 pears cost?), 'number machines' etc.

I think most children could do with more practice that this one book provides, especially if you are not going to sit them down and make them learn the tables parrot-fashion, but it is a great little addition to reinforce the learning.

Brilliant variety of recipes, 2010-06-24
It is said that we only do about 2 recipes per cookbook we buy, but with this book I would beg to differ. There is a huge selection of lovely recipes in this book. Not all of them have worked well for me - not a huge fan of slow cooked chicken. BUT... I love the lemon and honey pork chops, the beef in black bean sauce, the bonfire night sausage hotpot, etc. I even made the upside down apricot cake (in the dish itself). You do not have to always cook the ingredients beforehand, which is a bonus when you are in a hurry. Even some of the pudding recipes can be made directly in the slow cooker dish.

No need for a long review here. This book was written by a professional soldier who was in the SAS, or the Special Air Service. For those not in the know, that's an elite unit of the British Army trained to carry out operations in ALL parts of the world. Eventually, the author became a survival instructor to the SAS, so you can be sure that this guy knows his stuff.

The book covers all you'd ever want to know about the essentials of surviving in climates such as: the polar region, mountains, seashores, islands, tropical regions, or even at sea. Here's few of the many topics the book covers:

Great Scrabble Dictionary, 2010-07-20
Bought this as a gift for friends. Really good quality hardback book, nicely bound and presented in a protective case. A really nice keepsake!

Also, unlike some other Scrabble dictionaries I've come across, it also seems to contain all the words as per the official TWL dictionary.

I love sushi but new to the cooking side.
This book has great recipies and is well designed so that even sushi virgins like myself an make something which is edible.
I would recommend this book to beginners, but i am not sure how the more experience would find it?
