Lots of plot and drama, masses of beautifully described frocks, bags and shoes. Gorgeous parties, and rather graphic sex - but only to drive along the plot (and perhaps to please all those ladies whom a poll last year showed enjoyed a raunchy read if it was well written and not gratuitous). In the midst of this sensuous and sensory welter are characters you can sympathise with - I definitely found myself with that furrowed brow you get when you want to rescue someone. I really recommend Midnight Girls, stayed up very late finishing it and enjoyed it a lot. I haven't read much of this type since the great days of Jackie Collins, but this definitely had class. You felt the writer knew the world she was writing about, particularly the Oxford bits, and hadn't just read about it somewhere herself. I think she will do very well in this revived genre.

This is an incredibly useful little book produced by Olive magazine. There are recipes to suit all tastes, soups, meats, fish and vegetarian all of which are described clearly and illustrated with photographs. They are all simple to follow and none are too time consuming which is what a busy person these days appreciates, chicken with olives and tomatoes and mouclade are particularly delicious. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to cook, beginners could cope and more experienced cooks would enjoy trying out the newer recipes. I was once told 'If you can read, you can cook' so I suggest starting with this book - you can't go wrong.

Amazing book, All the basics you should know, 2009-06-23
I'm amazed that i am the first to review this book as it is one of the greats. I looked through this book in a bookstore and had to have it. Tons of recipes with all the basic recipes that you need to know plus tons of fancy ones too. This is a big book and there is a recipe for every ingridient you can think of in there. I would say buy this book if you want a reference book and to get ideas to adapt recipes, I love it.

Might Make You Blush on the Bus!, 2010-06-12
I really enjoyed reading Heiresses, which is one of the new blockbusters that are popping up all over the place - Lulu Taylor is definitely on her way with this promising debut. The description of how three spoilt young things get a grip on their family business was nicely engaging and interesting with good details about the perfume business. It is pretty saucy as well, but in a convincing sort of way. Altogether, Lulu Taylor would be an author I would pick to relax with on the beach.
