great value, 2009-11-09 I purchased this title as my media teacher advised it, it was agreat value. but the delivery service was shocking. they left the book out in the rain in my garden and did not tell me. A week later I phoned them to see where it was and they said they had left it in an outbuilding. I never got a letter through the letterbox to tell me this so the package was rain damaged!

Mesmorising photos with highly enjoyable text, 2000-02-12 Here are some of the best photographs you will ever find of HH the 17th Karmapa, the amazing Tibetan lama who has now escaped from Tibet, and whose importance and level of enlightenment will now inevitably become more known throughout the world. The text brings easy understanding of the Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu tradition, and covers topics such as the Karmapa's uniqueness, his lineage, reincarnation, and the land of Tibet. Beautiful, and the photos are worthy of framing.

Indepth Java Coverage, 2010-07-22 At first I thought this was an introductory book for beginners, but even in the first two chapters I learnt a lot, even though I've been using Java for a few years now.
This book in my opinion is not for someone who wants to learn his/her first object oriented language. You have to have basic (or more) knowledge about either Java or some other OO programming language.
For me, this book purchase was absolutely worth it. It is so much better to read a book from those who actually created the language. You can really see that the authors know all the ins and outs of the subject and that they are familiar with the common misconceptions that either other books don't mention, or what usually happens is that they mention it wrong. But not here.
So a huge thumbs up for this book, but again: this is not an introductory book I think. It really goes into indepth analysis of even the most basic terms, constructs...
Definitely a must buy.

The best book available for radiographers, 2010-07-25 Clark's Pocket Handbook for Radiographers
An exceptionally good book for students and qualified radiographers.
Unlike other pocket guides, the anatomy is set out in alphabetical order. As well as positioning, 'essential image characteristics' are listed and additional notes made where appropriate.
Chapters on terminology, image evaluation, justification, consent and radiation protection are invaluable for student radiographers.
I wish this had been available when I was a first year student!

This is indeed a refreshingly accessible translation, 2003-09-26 What a beautiful book this is! And the use of two colours, red for the original lines and black for the commentary is easy to the eye and enlivens the pages. The translator Ken and Katia Holmes have trained over thirty years with the great Kagyú tutors, and this experience shows in the ease with which relevant examples are chosen to underline and explain the deep meaning of the original text. Maitreya through Asanga's Mahayana Uttara Tantra is one of the most important doctrinal texts of Tibetan Buddhism, but in this edition it seems so accessible. It's a pleasure to study and I am sure that those new to Buddhism as well as the more advanced practitioner will find much delight in this text, translation and commentary.

A first-rate handbook for BTEC media students, 2008-03-20 In this handbook the authors display their practical knowledge of media production to good effect, while writing from the authoritative position of being Edexcel lead verifiers. The work is well focussed, well presented and clearly illustrated. I particularly enjoyed the introduction to production which is expertly pitched at the right level. The glossary will be an essential reference for students.

Written by several of Java's inventors, The Java Programming Language, Third Edition provides a nearly indispensable guide to basic and advanced features in today's hottest programming language. Perfect for the intermediate or advanced developer, this book delivers a wealth of information on how to do more with Java. The first sections of this title provide a nicely compact tour of Java basics. If you're a beginner, you'll get a glimpse of the fundamentals of Java quickly. Most of this new edition has the more experienced reader in mind. Subsequent chapters delve into basic and advanced language features of what can be done with classes, interfaces and other design features in Java. The authors' explanations are notably clear and never pedantic. Many examples are illustrated using simple mathematical problems, and the class design samples for inheritance and interfaces all use comprehensible class names and concepts. This book is just outstanding when it comes to class design. This title will definitely let any reader do more with classes, whether you want to make use of such features as "anonymous inner classes", reflection (for loading classes dynamically), or do more w...
