Pitch-perfect Spider-man, 2009-05-31
It's an oft-repeated cliche but Brand New Day really has created a new golden age for Spidey. It's been funny, smart, action-packed and just downright fun with plenty of knowing nods to the mythos and it could be enjoyed by someone who had only ever seen the movies.

I think this collection has been my favourite so far. Everything I've liked about BND hit a new gear - fabulous art, laugh-out-loud moments, genuine pathos and the fantastic re-introduction of a classic villain. Hammerhead's reinvention kind of sums up BND as a whole for me; it took something stale and reconfigured it into something infinitely more interesting and enjoyable. This represents fun superhero comics at their finest.

Having purchased Deadpool Vol 1, The Circle Chase & The Sins of the Past,getting Vol 2 was not an option,it was a necessity.This book has it all as Deadpool crosses swords,literally,with amongst others the Hulk & Daredevil and the unpredictability of the character gives a breath of fresh air to the Marvel Universe.The reason I did not give it five stars is because the story,The End of Wade Wilson,is included which is the only weak link in an excellent collection which has Deadpool in one story using dance moves to beat The Taskmaster.Honest!

The great stories continue, 2009-12-26
Another good set of characters, with a crazy Bullseye, Deadpool being sent in the past in an Amazing Spider-Man episode, Weasel discovering the torture chamber, Deadpool learning he's supposed to be some kind of Messiah, etc... The writers have found their rhythm, I just wish it won't be too long before the next volume is released, otherwise we'll have the complete 90's Deadpool run in only 3 or 4 years...

Light hearted and funny., 2010-02-15
The art is very solid and the story rattles along at a fair pace, the Black cat spices up Peter Parkers love live somewhat but the whole thing just feels a little insubstancial. A good fun read but nothing deep, challenging or groundbreaking. Or that memorable for that matter.

In this first volume, you'll find the first one shot deadpool stories. You'll also find a really well drawn Deadpool, I prefer this than what did Ed McGuinness (you'll see his first episode at the end), because it's more raw and less cartoon-like. A great set of characters is shown here, with the Banshee, his daughter Syrin, Juggernaut and Tom Cassidy (really ugly with his wooden virus). Recommended.

Great book., 2009-12-26
Probably the best Deadpool stories here. Deadpool stories aren't like the other marvel comics, you don't have bleak stories, nobody important dies really (even though regular civilians are often killed, without caring about, which is very unlike the other marvel comics). On the other hand, the whole marvel mythologie doesn't go forward, there aren't real big events that will affect the x-men, x-factor etc... but he meets a lot of them, the part where he has to steal hulk's blood to survive is pretty hilarious. Secondary characters are great too, like Weasel or Al. Drawings are sometimes really nice, sometimes too smooth and cartoon-like, but it's not really disturbing. You'll read here and then that Deadpool is insane and violent. Well he is, but even though he has a torture chamber in his house, the whole plot is about seeking Deadpool human side. You'll learn about his past, his cancer, the weapon-x project, and you'll see him meet Daredevil in some great and funny fights. Deadpool classic is a must-have, only because it's not like written like the other marvel comics.
