Average rating of 5/5 This is a great book ..., 2010-07-14
I had the pleasure of seeing Iain speak about it too. It is so refreshing to see a scientific book which doesn't shy away from philosophy. In fact, Iain integrates it and expounds upon it.

This is a book for anyone who has ever been curious about what the so-called missing 99% of our brain is for and how we can start to engage with it. The historical context tells the story - it's not so much missing but dormant and ignored.

I have one small observation (as opposed to criticism). The academic language obfuscates [pun intended] much of the brilliance of the book and I suspect will make it inaccessible to many who could well benefit from it.

I would stick my hand up to help with a layman's version - à la Stephen Hawkings - "The Master and His Emissary in a Nutshell" perhaps
