Average rating of 5/5 Mind Over Mood, 2010-03-04
Recommended by my tutor. Am now using the exercises & guidelines in the book to work with clients using these CBT techniques.

It allows clarity of thought for both myself as a therapist and for my clients. It also allows clients to understand how they are progressing as they work through the personal exercises provided in the book.

It is extremely useful. So much so that I have today ordered the Clinicians Guide to Mind Over Mood, so I am looking forward to receiving & utilising this within my practice. excellent choice and invaluable as a working tool.

Average rating of 3/5 Janet B misses the point, 2007-07-24
Janet B misses the whole premise. Feelings are of course a response to the world around us, but between the sensory perception of an event in the world and the feeling that results comes a thought - often unnoticed. That thought is based on our beliefs and values and the way we view the world. All CBT asks us to do is to review those beliefs and values objectively and judge whether they are valid.

This book is simplistic and doesn't explain the core concepts of CBT as well as it might, but that doesn't detract from their validity.

Average rating of 5/5 Excellent, 2010-02-17
I found this book to be excellent - covering case conceptualisation from novice to advanced level. It is easy to use on a daily basis and the diagrams and case studies makes an often complex presentation easier to understand. Discussing incorporating strenghts and applying it to a model is extremely valuable to me.
