Average rating of 2/5 Don't buy this, when... you can buy "Kotz&Treichel", 2001-08-23
This book fails to live up to the excellent Chemistry & Chemical Reactivity by Kotz&Treichel. However, it is an improvement on the third edition, and has some excellent "first-year level" chemistry and is an excellent primer and aid to revision, and is a good all-round chemistry book, although it fails to go into sufficent depth in all areas, being a general chemistry book. If you buy this book, be prepared to also have to buy, borrow or steal a copy of Atkins - Physical Chemistry, Fox&Whitesell - Organic Chemistry and an Inorganic Chemistry book of your choice (Speisard&Meissler is an excelletn Organometallic book) for you revision. The diagrams are either easily readable and oversimplified, or go into sufficient detail and are clumsily constructed, confused and a waste of space. The writing style is easy and uncomplicated in places, but vague and misleading in places.
