Average rating of 5/5 We have crossed the Rubicon, 2007-01-22
`The Survival of the Fattest' is an unparalleled study of human brain evolution. Stephen Cunnane is in a position to convince any objective reader that Homo Sapiens should be classified as the shore-based member of the chimpanzee family. Max Westenhofer, Alister Hardy, Elaine Morgan, Michael Crawford and others have prepared a turning point in our vision of the emergence of the human species. Today, with this seminal book, we have crossed the Rubicon. We have entered an irreversible phase in our understanding of human nature.
Such an important book should be absorbed slowly, chapter by chapter.

Average rating of 5/5 Essential reading for Biomedical Scientists, 2008-01-18
Anybody studying Biology past A-level would find this book useful. Just in case you wondered whether everybody was the same, you will discover that it is possible to live, even if your blood chemistries are outside the so-called normal range, the same as if your internal organs are in slightly different places from your peers. It also indicates why there is no one-size-fits-all diet, & that a so-called optimum pH (acid-alkaline balance)does not exist - it depends on your internal chemistry.

Well laid out. easy to read. lots of nice diagrams. ok so it won't get you honours points but should contain enough to pass and is far less intimidating than those huge physiology texts. great for preclinical medics. not enough detail for pure physiology students though.
