Quite an expensive book but well worth the money. This is a very detailed book starting off with information in the first few chapters giving a comprehensive overview of signal transmission and the mechanisms of its regulation - well explained but detail aplenty, a nice learning curve. As you get through the book plenty of detail surfaces on the individual types of pathways (the chapter on G-protein-linked transmission is excellent) such as JAK/STAT, nuclear receptors etc all accompanied by EXCELLENT DIAGRAMS. The book fully explains the concept of enzyme regulation and receptors, second messengers etc. A great textbook with excellent references following each chapter for further reading. My only (minor) gripe would be the 3 or 4 spelling mistakes - however this does not detract from the book. I was advised to read Hancock "Cell Signalling" for one of my units but this book by Krauss hugely overshadows that text. Having read the best part of both books there is absolutely no competition. Overall possibly the best textbook I have purchased during study for my Biomedical Sciences degree.
