Average rating of 4/5 A well organised overview of Developmental Biology, 2001-11-22
This book sets out very clearly the basic concepts of the subject. The diagrams are simple to comprehend and the format of the book encourages the reader to focus on the most important points.

Average rating of 5/5 Medical Genetics at a Glance, 2005-03-22
This book is very logical, concise, simple and tackles key concepts in genetics to level that is required for a medical student. It introduces the subject well, but doesn't go into the details on the concepts, which is fair as it is aimed at medical students, who don't need to know the detailed genetics underlying clinical conditions. Diagrams are excellent, we want more of them as they summarise the text. I particularly like the lists or tables. Overall medical genetics at a glance is concise, to the point and reasonably priced. I reccomend it to anyone studying medicine or biomedical sciences.

Average rating of 5/5 excellent all-round review of development inc. genetics., 2001-05-30
Chapter by chapter explanations of the whole of development - other books (wolpert) are also very good but don't necessarily cover as much, although obviously this book does not cover everything to huge depth either, it is still perhaps better than others. When I was an undergraduate student this was the recommended text book (an earlier edition), now that I'm working as a post graduate in a lab we have the most recent edition and find it to be superb for referencing matters that we don't know much about. The book covers all the major model organisms with reasonable clarity and is pretty good for distinguishing what really is known and what is/was speculation. Strongly recommend.

Author: Shirley MacLaine
By Simon & Schuster Audio

Average rating of 5/5 Her journey continues..., 2007-12-27
If you've enjoyed Shirley MacLaine's previous volumes of autobiography, you'll find this one a pleasure. And if you're new to Ms MacLaine's metaphysical musings, this serves as an entertaining and accessible "jumping on" point, with an emphasis on making the most of our elder years. Relevant to all ages, with particularly interesting information on naturopathic medicine and dentistry, and peppered with entertaining anecdotes from Shirley's Hollywood career, this one comes highly recommended.
