Average rating of 4/5 An excellent overview of an exciting area of biology, 2000-11-02
This book is an excellent starting point for those embarking in their studies of ion channels. I'm sure that this book was written with this in mind. It is by far more concise and easier to read that Hille's "Ionic Channels of Excitable Membranes", and more useful to students than "Single Channel Recording". This book covers many aspects of ion channel biology, from the diversity of channels to the relationship between amino acid sequence and the behavior of the single protein molecules. Anyone involved in this area of science will know that it is moving ever rapidly forward, and sideways. Students will probably want to complement this book with reference to more recent syntheses, such as Prof Ashcroft's "Ion Channels & Disease", and there's rumours of a new edition of "Hille". Many thanks to the authors, from scores of physiology students, for an enjoyable study aid.
