SimpleBrainThink, 2006-04-26 Carpenter has single-handedly simplified a horribly complex subject without losing (much) detail, and in the process made it understandable and fun.
If you want to learn about anatomy, don't read this book. If you like boring lists of sensory and motor pathways, don't read this book. If you haven't got a clue what's going on and want a good grounding in the principles and perplexing concepts of neurophysiology, this is the book for you.
Actually made me like Neurophysiology.

Excellent! Covers Everything (almost), 2003-01-28 As a beginner in the area of fMRI research (image analysis), I found this book to be a complete and comprehensive intro to the subject, written by the leaders in this field from all over the world. It covers everything in the right amount to give you an understanding of what is involved in Functional MRI. However, no one book can cover everything in this subject just because of its multidisciplinary nature that ranges from neuroscience to engineering and physics. It also covers some areas more in more depths than others. I found the physics part to be a little weak and not very well explained. The rest of the book is just Excellent. If you need to go deeper into any one single subject like neuroscience, physiology, image registration ...etc the book will point you in the right direction to get this info from the top people in their respective fields.
