Get this book with the Simbryo CD., 2006-09-23 This is a great embryology book. It is well written, detailed and easy to understand. Each chapter has clinical correlates and problems to solve, to reinforce what was learnt. The diagrams are great. The best feature of this book is the animated CD-ROM - SIMBRYO with animation of the embryological development of each system as well as the early weeks - gastrulation etc. At the back of the book are the answers to the problems at the end of each chapter with full explanations. This book makes studying embryology fun.

To understand life, you must understand death, 2008-12-28 People have a natural curiosity about death; unfortunately, this fascinating biological event is often poorly explained by others with nebulous analogies about "passing through a tunnnel". Yet, to understand what it means to be alive, you must understand what it means to die.
Clarke explains the physiological mechanism of dying by setting it in the relevent context of a 50-year old man who suffers a heart attack. Ultimately people die because their cells die. Clarke looks at what causes cells to die, what happens when they do die, and, of our 100-trillion cells, which ones harbour the qualities that make us alive. The book is ground down in solid science, and a must read for any biologists, making abstract proccesses like respiration incredibly relevent to life itself.

Clear Introductory Text, 2001-05-03 This is a relatively easy introduction to cell signalling. Material is fairly up-to-date and many useful diagrams. Lists of references and further reading for those who wish to explore further. Probably one of the best texts available for an introduction to cell signalling.
