Average rating of 5/5 a really good introduction, 2008-06-01
I am a student from another major (environmental engineering), so I had no any knowledge in genetics previously. After reading 4 chapters and finishing related exercise, I find I gradually gain a sense of genetics. This book is very comprehensive and focusing on main themes at the same time. For important topics, the authors will mention them again and again. I can say, if you read carefully, you can not miss them. At last, I would say the problems at the end of each chapter are really good, which is very helpful for grasping related knowledge.
I would recommend this perfect canon to beginners like me.

This publication contains the proceedings of the 42nd Congress of the International Society for Applied Ethology. A total of 251 contributions were presented during the congress. The current food crisis is among many challenges facing agriculture in the world today. It is fitting then that the theme of this book is Applied ethology: addressing future challenges in animal agriculture. The basis for this theme is that knowledge and understanding of the principles and processes that govern farm animal behaviour can be transformed into practices that provide sustainable solutions to the challenges currently facing farm animal production systems. This book reflects the theme but also demonstrates the diversity of research in Applied Ethology.

Average rating of 5/5 really useful, 2006-09-11
I found this book to be really useful with my nursing ethics module, as it takes into consideration issues such as abortion, euthanasia (including newborn euthanasia), allocation of resources, organ donation etc. It also looks at nursing as an ethical issue. This book will come in handy for other modules, as this book addresses a lot of nursing issues, of which are likely to crop up at certain stages in my course. A very interesting read.
