Average rating of 5/5 Unbeatable Fish-keeping books, 2007-01-22
All of the Aqualog books are excellent value, although they are not particularly cheap. They are full to the brim with first class colour photographs and to reproduce these in a book is an expensive process. Whether they are about the beautiful Killifishes now coming into the aquarist trade or some other species of fish they are the most comprehensive identification books you can buy. They never become dated because as new fish become available to the aquarist trade the books are updated. There is not a lot of literature on Killifishes so this book is invaluable.

They do not deal with the basics of fish keeping, there are many and varied books that do that. They are in the main a fish identification encyclopaedia for a particular species. But for those aquarists who are particularly interested in a single species they are indispensable.

Average rating of 3/5 $60 book for $125, how much would you pay for line drawings?, 1999-06-24
The comprehensive coverage of fish taxonomy is immense. What else does $125 get you? A lot of nice line drawings. Comparable works with mammals and birds cost about the same, but have higher quality paper and photos/drawings. This book should be selling for about $60 considering what it is lacking visually. It is uncommon to have such a small (600 pages) book demand such a high price without any photos (black and white or color). If you think line drawings are just fine, that is not the issue. It is cost.
