Average rating of 5/5 A fascinating book which I return to time and time again. :), 2008-03-06
This is a fascinating book which I return to time and time again. As well as being really well researched and written, I just love the approach of this book as it really lets you absorb the archetypes of astrology and adds a different perspective to how you look at potential interpretations. I used to fear Saturn, Pluto and Mars from my original learnings about astrology, but through this book I have gained an understanding and acceptance of their energy and purpose. It's interesting to think of the planets as people and personalities rather than objects in space and it has really added to my enjoyment of astrology. This book goes into both the Greek and Roman mythology for each God and their relationships with other Gods and any related festivals and history. It also details the physical qualities of the planet and another section of how each archetype/planet works in your natal chart and then goes into further detail about the astrological rulers and symbology. The other really cool thing about this book is that it also goes into the same detail with the asteroids; Chiron, Ceres, Juno, Pallas Athene and Vesta. Chiron is particularly busy in my chart so I found it personally very useful. It was this book and subsequent discussion about my chart and astrology with my friend Lisa, the book's author, that led to my chart being used in her latest astrology book - Teach Yourself Astrology. Both books make a great companion to each other - TYA for the mechanics and practical astrology and UTPM for the archetypal resonances and a deeper understanding.

Author: Michael Light
By Jonathan Cape Ltd

The Apollo missions, completed between 1967 and 1972, were achieved due to the magnificent co-operative effort of 400,000 men and women, and resulted in the miraculous feat of no deaths, six lunar landings, and over 32,000 photographs. To mark the 30th anniversary of the first landing, the Hayward Gallery in London held an exhibition in Summer 1999 of a selection of those photographs under the title "Full Moon". Indulge yourself in the catalogue of the show and it will take your breath away. Artist and photographer Michael Light has drawn on Nasa's huge archive to put together an archetypal lunar journey in images, from take-off to landing. It is awesome. To communicate the necessary density required a special black ink --"Luna Nero" was developed solely for the printing of this book, and the latest digital resources were used to process miles of black-and-white negatives and colour transparencies to a unique razor-sharp clarity. With five gatefold montage panoramas included, this is landscape photography at its best. Astronauts take their first steps in space, their cables attaching them to their mother craft like giant umbilical cords. The moody surface of the moon ...

Average rating of 4/5 TOO MANY COMETS FOR OUR OWN GOOD,, 2008-07-25
This book starts out full of promise and I found the first part extremely interesting when the authors discussed the possibility of there having been an ancient civilisation on Mars. I expected the book to develop this hypothesis, but then we got on to Comets and the fact that we have all this uncontrollable objects floating, indeed whizzing around the Universe, just ready to plough into Earth and wipe us out at a stroke. I think there was a bit too much about the Comets, frankly, and having found all the other Graham Hancock books that I have read riveting, this time I was just a trifle disappointed. It seems to me that a book must have a certain weight or volume of words. This may be one such book. However, it deserves 4 stars for the Mars Pyramid bit, which makes the mind boggle.
