The most helpful book for beginners, 2005-09-08 As a new beekeeper, one becomes overwhelmed by conflicting information from all the other beekeepers with whom one comes in contact. This book is sensible, realistic, and humorous, and doesn't assume that everyone wants at first to know all the amazing science stuff! If you only buy one beekeeping book,(which you won't) make this the one! It will tell you all you need to know to start. Don't forget the bees have been doing it longer than you!

A book worth buying, 2005-08-28 A title that should be on the shelf of any horse owner/rider or carer. Very much a high level book with a lot of in depth coverage though perhaps written with a more involved readership in mind..ie, veterinary students. Nicely divided up for reference purposes but the illustrations, although very good, do not make a good substitute for photographs, albeit understood that photos cannot be provided for all situations described within the book. It's a book worth reading a bit at a time and the information digested, and surprising amounts can be learned from studying this work.

Good Level 1 book, 2006-08-02 As a new Reiki therapist, I wanted to learn about using it on animals, so I bought this book. Part One explains the basics of Reiki, (for more details I would recommend The Reiki Sourcebook by Frans and Bronwen Stiene), Part Two is the actual getting ready and giving a treatment, and Part Three explains Reiki for specific animals, with sections for dogs, cats, horses, small animals etc. Part Four is for going on to Level 2 Reiki. The whole book is interspersed with stories of animals which have been treated, and the results obtained.
The book is aimed at people who have taken Reiki Level 1. However it can be enjoyed by all levels, I myself am a Reiki 2. The stories of the animals are lovely and encourage you to go out and do your thing!
The writing is simple and easy to read and there are also pictures for hand positions when giving treatments to specific animals. A good basic guide.

Great information for all who cohabitate with cats, 2008-06-30 I picked this book up in a clearance since I had just adopted three kittens.
I have grown up with animals in the home for over 25 years and luckily have had very few problems.
However I was concerned about having a multi cat household.
This book contains practical advice on what problems may occur and how to try and overcome them.
I look forward to reading the rest of the authors books in future

Excellent!, 2005-09-01 As duck books go this really is as good as it gets. Great information well presented, and a pleasure to read. Lots of factual information pleasantly punctuated with anecdotes of the author's experiences. It has something for everyone from the complete novice to the hard core experienced duck keeper. All aspects of duck keeping are covered, housing, nutrition, incubation, rearing and illnesses to name but a few. The early sections decribing the characteristics of various breeds is hugely useful to a novice helping to decide what breed is most suitable for you given the environment you will be keeping your ducks in. If you don't own this book, buy a copy. If you don't have any Ducks, buy some so you can justify owning a copy of this book!
