If you are into the natural horsemanship then you will like this as much as i did, this was very helpful as i have a nervous 2 year old which i am looking to back in the near future and as i didnt want to pay a fortune for someone to back him, this really gave me some great ideas on how to do this successfully and carrying out some of his ideas we are both loving every minute. It also has some really usefull tips on loading that difficult horse.

Average rating of 5/5 Practical sheep keeping, 2007-11-27
As both the above say this a great book for any sheep keeper, a must for the small flock owner, but also of interest to the larger farmer. The seems to cover just about everyting you need to know in a practical easy to use sort of way - invaluable when you come rushing in from the farm to check on something.

Average rating of 5/5 Superb, 2003-11-01
A superb surgical text. Unusually for surgical textbooks, it is ideal for both new graduate and experienced surgeon. In many ways this is a "complete" textbook - it includes detailed information on not only the diagnosis and surgical correction of every condition likely to be encountered in general practice, but also the pathophysiology, medical management and post-op consideration/complications. the diagrams are superb (and easy to follow especially if, like me, you like to have the book open at the relevant page during a particularly complicated procedure!) Having bought many many expensive textbooks during my years as a student and 10 years in practice this is the first one I would gladly have paid double for. I have referred to it countless times and have yet to find it lacking in any way. It will take you from your first bitch spey to your surgery certificate and beyond - buy it!

Average rating of 5/5 A good design book., 2007-06-06
This book takes a modicum of intelligence to get the best from it. It is not a collection of 'how to' plans but more a treatise of coop design with good examples. To convert 1" to millimetres multiply by 25.4 and if the reader can't work out the floor space divided by the required space for each hen from figures given, then he/she has bought the wrong book.

Average rating of 5/5 Beekeeping for Dummies, 2007-08-01
I always thought that the Howells series were for techno dudes. So I was amazed to see this title. And what an excellent surprise it is. This is one of the best guides to the keeping of bees, anywhere in the world, I've read. It's informative, honest, helpful and entertaining. Thus making bee keeping an achievable and enjoyable pastime. Everyone should read this, even if you don't ever get the bees.

Average rating of 5/5 Breathtaking..., 2008-04-20
I picked up this book as an "add on" to other biographical writing I was studying for a Creative Writing Course. During the course I didn't get chance to read it; I have seen and heard about Monty Roberts work and decided to read the book for pleasure.

It's an incredible story told simply and with great warmth. There are no pretensions - he just tells it how it is and is very generous with his description of his techniques and the highs and lows of his life's work. This is his (and his familys) story, his journey and his observations on this most noble of animals and their language. It's a mark of incredible generosity that he has put it down in words.

I have been brought up with horses and understood how you treat them with respect and care; in later life I have had very little contact with them. If I ever return to riding I shall approach it from a more gentle, more respectful perspective.

This is not good writing - it's great writing told with great humility and style. It is a privilege to have an insight into his life, passion and work; he comes across as he does in the interviews I have seen as an ordinary man with extraordinary insight, skills and judgement.

He is quite simply unique, as is this book.

Average rating of 5/5 Good basic start with clear diagrams, 2002-01-24
Clear and comprehensive for the beginner that wants to know more. Not fussy in it's layout and has good clear diagrams. Easy to read language that doesn't get carried away and lose the point. Very useful on my NVQ level 2 animal care course.
