Average rating of 5/5 The perfect partner for helping your children with their homework , 2007-11-30
Having met my daughter's maths teacher who showed me this book to be the foundation of her teachings to all the children in Year 3 (7/8 year olds) I knew that this, together with Mental Arithmetic Books 1,2,3,4 & 5, would be the ideal support for homework assistance. Until I bought this from Amazon, I had no guidelines at all and didn't know if the arithmetic I was 'teaching' at home was too hard, too easy or just plain useless. Now with this book I have the perfect assistant, because I know that the specific topics covered and the level of difficulty is exactly matched to what my daughter is studying at school, so it's an excellent revisionary tool, and it's even enjoyable too! Strongly recommended, I have no doubt that with regular use of this book at home my daughter, and her younger sister when her time comes, will have a much better chance of making the necessary grade in Year 6 and go on to our local grammar school. Sounds a bit over-the-top, but in its way, this little book can actually change the course of your children's lives - because the difference between our local grammar school and the comprehensive school is obvious for all to see. Getting a good grade at Arithmetic at age 11 is a fundamental requirement to being selected for a school offering better standards of education and in turn better opportunities in the future. I bought Books 1 through to 6 and I'm pleased I did.

Average rating of 5/5 Excellent, 2007-10-28
I am currently studying an OU primer course in Maths and this book along with its AQA A-level partner were recommended by my Tutor. The AQA syllabus closely mirrors the OU primer. This review applies to both the AS and A2 books.

As the books are not cheap and Amazon does not offer massive discounts on A-level texts I made a visit to Waterstones where I was able to check their suitability and compare them with their main rivals. I must have been impressed because I walked out of Waterstones with copies of both!

All I can say is that I am amazed how good the books are. The sections are clear and well presented. The authors and publishers have spent a lot of time working on the textual explanations so you are eased through each step in the mathematical process. The CDs are useful, using PDF files which integrate well with the textbooks. At the end of each section there's lots of relevant practice questions to try.

The Maths textbooks I used in the 1970's were dull and opaque compared to these - no wonder exam results are improving!

Average rating of 5/5 Excellent statistics college level finals training program., 1996-08-20
As with all Schaum Outlines series, this is an excellent book for every college/univserity degree level student facing the statistics finals. Over 800 pages long, hundreds of examples, covering descriptive and inductive methods at length , together with the vital mathematical theory give the reader the background needed to pass any statistics finals. I used this when learning for mine, and it worked out great.

Average rating of 5/5 Statistics - well taught!, 2008-10-26
As a teacher I found this book easy to read, understand and such a helpful resource. Pupils found the questions were challenging but the approach of steadily increasing complexity was beneficial. They liked the idea of certain questions being annotate as OCR, as seen in many educational text books now to highlight past exam questions. Furthermore, I liked the idea of practice papers for both C1 and C2.
On the downside I would consider the order of the Chapters to be revisited as we approach the task of teaching it in a slightly different order. Nevertheless, a first class book.

Average rating of 3/5 A good book for the advanced pharmacy practitioner, 2002-01-20
A bit pricey though. The book needs to be aimed at students or a downsized edition with "sound bytes". The book also does not focus on the pre-registration exam which is the main concern for students if they are aiming to get a calculation book. The chapters on TDM calculation were quite useful in the TDM module but more focus needs to be on the exam ar atleast some tips on how to pass the exam. I understand there are books based specifically for the exam but why not kill two birds with one stone...well book if you insist.

Average rating of 3/5 Good Examples for MEI Students, 2004-06-22
I found this was the only book, which covered my syllabus MEI. The book contains good examples of questions with full working; it also gives questions for you to try. I would say this book was an revision aid and would not solely rely upon it for revision, if you buy this book I would advise you also buy letts as and alevel maths. This and the aforementioned would greatly aid you if you were studying at night classes or self-teaching.
