Best revision guide available for Core 2 OCR, 2007-06-13 Brilliant guide, I was resitting Core 2 for the third time after obtaining poor grades on my previous attempts. This guide managed to make revision much easier and helped me tremendously. With this guide i've been getting B's and A's in mocks compared to E's before. I also found the exam a piece of cake this time around. A must have for any AS student!!!

., 2007-08-10 it is useful, but bear in mind the authors exposes things in a very alternative manner, therefore it is often difficult to find a clear and quick explanation/definition to exactly what you are looking for, or find things in the index
i have used it to clarify concepts once i've studied them elsewhere- by giving you a different perspective it helps to really capture the concept

A superb read., 2007-05-29 Inspiring, entertaining, fascinating. Sync is a real treasure trove for anyone interested in emergence, non-linear dynamics, networks and A-Life. It's great that he takes a fresh angle to this subject matter, and there are lots of anecdotes and examples that are not in any of the other popular books on these subjects. Definitely in my Top 10!

Everyone should read this book, 2003-07-11 While I have some quibbles with the style and layout (the book essentially comes down to one point which is repeated several times), this is a book everyone should read.Especially if you are diagnosed with breast cancer or HIV (things may not be as bad as you think). Trust me, if you read the book you'll understand this comment!

Compact knowledge, 2008-04-15 I found this book is very interesting. I used this book when doing my research. For me, it is a compact knowledge inside one book. I do not need to search for other book for reference.
This book provide easy to understand structure. A lot of example and proof make this book is very nice.
I agree that this book is good for undergraduate, but it is also good for high level education.

Ideal for those revising before going on to Further Ed Maths, 2002-01-20 I decided to do the Open University course MST121 "Using Mathematics" and needed to do some serious revision beforehand. I purchased this book after seeing it mentioned on the OU web site. The book is well laid out and very easy to follow. Unlike some maths books whose content appears to masses of formulae which can be very daunting, this book goes to great lengths to explain all the workings. I quickly regained the maths skills I had forgotten and also picked up some new ones along the way. At times I had difficulty following the OUs revision pack, but when I consulted the appropriate chapter in this book things seemed to fall into place. I would recommend this book to anyone who like me has not used their maths skills in a long time and wishes to go on to Further Education Maths.

Leonard Mlodinow
By Penguin
In his charming mathematical history, Euclid's Window Leonard Mlodinow asks "How do you know where you are?" This question and others about space and time grew out of simple observations of the environment by a select group of thinkers whose lives and brains Mlodinow dissects. Starting with Euclid geometry has flowed out over the centuries describing the universe and, Mlodinow argues, making modern civilization possible. This is not just a history of geometry--it's a timeline of reason and abstraction, with all the major players present: Euclid, Descartes, Gauss, Einstein and Witten, each represented by a mini-biography. Lots of examples pepper the narrative to help readers achieve their own "eureka!" And it's impossible not to be staggered at the mathematical feats of these geniuses, accomplished as many of them were in the absence of anything but observation and intense thought. Each story builds satisfactorily upon the last until at the end of this delightful book one has a sense of having climbed a peak of understanding. A working knowledge of basic geometry is helpful but not essential for enjoying Euclid's Window, and Mlodinow's chatty style lends it...
Good introduction, 2004-04-21 Structured along the lines of the "big man-style of history" (i.e. Euclid,Descrates, Gauss, Einstein and Edward Witten) this book takes us from theGreeks to Superstring (M-Theory) of the present. The explanations arevery clear and the historical elements are interesting and concise. In a book of this size it can only be an introduction, of course, but itvery readable and contains mathematical details, where justified. I would recommend The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene as an excellentcontinuation to the later chapters on Superstring and M-Theory.

A WORK OF SPECTACULAR INSIGHT, 2008-05-08 Shapes and Forms' paper and Qabalistic based Hermetic design against this work, there is no comparison. Daud Sutton is a born scholar who manages to introduce the dazzling complexity and subtlety of Islamic lineal shapes and forms with consummate ease. One of my favourite source works. --Steven Ashe
