This is an excellent book - clearly laid out with a good selection of diagrams. It can be accessed by all levels of student - from sixth-form/upper high-school to postgraduate level. All will find it useful.

It's only snag is that it is 14 years old!

As an interested layperson who has struggled to follow geologists' explanations ,this was exactly the book I needed. Clear descriptions, vivid explanations, plenty of photographs and well-chosen diagrams. Things which have been a bit of a mystery to me will henceforth be much better understood.

Average rating of 4/5 Good basic book, 2004-02-16
A good basic introduction to global hydrology. The layout is good, with each chapter being divided up into many short, specific sections so it's very easy to find what you are looking for. Figures support the text well. A little expensive but it's probably a good investment.

If you wish to read a good introductory book with a solid scientific basis, this is the one. It covers a wide range of topics while keeping a good balance between enough scientific background to please more scientifically advanced readers, yet simplified enough to serve as an introduction.
