I have been out of education for 10 years before I started my degree so I was very apprehensive about the maths. This book works wonders especially the DVD you get with it to help problem solve. This is such a well structured book with lots of worked examples.

Recently I found a book that I could only dream of as a child, but which didn't seem to exist. Then I was fascinated by the weather and wanted a book classifying the cloud types with the correct names, symbols and pictures to demonstrate. Richard Hamblyn's "The Cloud Book" does all these things. The beauty of the photographs means it easily qualifies for the coffee tables of the less geeky among us, while neatly illustrating the text for the cloud afficianado. It is not often that you can say a book is perfect in all respects, but may be this is one.

I hate self help books, but this is completely different. It changed my life, recognising the thought processes at the start of the book was like someone switching on a light.
I hate those self help books which analyse why you do this that or the other, but this was totally different, focused, direct, and to the point. Doesn't dwell on why you are depressed etc, but tackles it with written exercises.
Cannot recommend it enough, it is a FANTASTIC, LIFE CHANGING book

At last, a readable guide to the IEE wiring regulations !, 2008-02-28
This book is an excellent, clear guide to the IEE wiring regulations, suitable for all users of the regulations.
I found both the text and in particular the illustrations, very useful in resolving different interpretations surrounding earthing and bonding issues.
There is also a very useful short section on harmonic assessment.
I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommeding the book to both practising electricians and electrical circuit designers.

I was told about this book by a collegue. I started reading it thinking I would read the book but never stop. As I read it I found myself having less and less desire to smoke.
The book was very repetative and at times it would have been easy to stop reading. I continued to the end of the book and have now been a non smoker for over a year.
In that time I have had cravings but but most of the time I am just thankful that i don't smoke anymore.

Wanna learn Anatomy?, 2008-05-31
Me = Medical student, and this anatomy poster really hit the standard for me. I thoroughly recommend the Anatomical Chart Company's posters, which are very high print quality, at full anatomical detail (and split into layers such as muscular, skeletal and visceral). It's by Lippencott, so if you're a medic, nurse or someone who just really wants to know anatomy (as well as looking uber-clever with such posters up in your room) this is what you want. The print is clearly labelled, using standard anatomical terminology (no wierd latin), and is in full english (I bought another anatomy poster via Amazon which was a quarter English :-( ). The price is decent considering what you're getting, and the multiple views you get are really good. Happy customer, and more importantly, happy medical student! :-)

Clearly presented handy reference on earthing and bonding, 2005-06-13
Earthing and bonding are obviously critical parts of an electrical installation.This spiral-bound book briefly covers the definitions of earthing and bonding, and then proceeds to illustrate 50 practical examples which do not comply with the IEE 16th edition regulations, together with the correct method. The examples include:
- dealing with inadequately earthed installations;
- whether supplementary equipotential bonding is required;
- earthing of conduit, armoured cable etc;
- preventing corrosion of bonding connections;
- bonding in a block of flats;
- etc... Pointers to the relevant IEE regulations are provided where necessary. I bought this book while studying for the City and Guilds 2381 exam, and it's the clearest book I found on the subject - the illustrations and text are a cut above most of the other books on the Wiring Regs - easy for a novice to understand, but perhaps a useful "handy reference" even for the more experienced contactor. I hope "Part 2" is as good!
