Inspiring for runners & 'Dreamers', 2010-06-17 I have never been a runner, in fact a wouldn't even call myself a jogger.......much more a couch supporter of running. So I initially purchased this for 'a good yarn' and nothing more.
How one book can change your thinking process is still leaving me in wonder, how it manages to be a good read in its own right but also is able to make you think about the human evolution and how we developed and survived our stronger and apparently better equipped Neanderthal competitors. You will have to read the book to find out the 'how'.
I read the book 5 weeks ago, have been running...... OK jogging....since and have lost 5Kg. I plan to continue as I now actually enjoy going out in the morning for 4 or so miles. Will I get up to 50 miles....I hope so..but more importantly I am not setting a particular goal...just enjoying my new lease of life.
I cannot recommend this book enough for a 'good read' or something more inspirational.
Sorry to have finished this book, 2010-07-11 As a struggling runner, I greatly enjoyed this inspirational book. It seemed a little slow at the beginning - but it picked up. As I finished it, I was really sorry it was over. This book has inspired me to re-examine my running. I now do some of my training in bare feet and its going surprisingly well. I would (and do) recommend this book to any other runner - but its amazing how many have read it already.
Inspirational Read, 2010-07-17 Having heard about and recommended this book as a good read, I found it at a very good price on Amazon. I am a regular runner and I found this book a revelation. It has inspired me and now I aspire to be a better runner. It is a life changer if you are looking to find the right motivation for running.
I would recommend that every runner should have a copy of this book. Brilliant reading!!
A really interesting read., 2010-07-17 I heard about this book on the radio and sent for it. I wasn't disapponted. It tells the fascinating story of a completely different attitude to life and running in particular, as well as describing incredible feats of running. the book is an unforgettable read. Well worth getting hold of.
The bible for barefooters, 2010-07-23 This book is simply *the* bible for barefoot runners or those interested in the sport. It is excellently written and the story itself is inspirational. You will want to kick off your trainers by the end of the first few chapters! The book is easy to read, well researched and I know I'll be constantly looking back to it whenever I need a little more motivation on my own journey as a barefoot runner.
