Average rating of 5/5 Extremely useful and well set out practice book. Essential buy!, 2009-07-01
This book is an absolute winner on all fronts! It doesn't waste time telling you about all the obvious stuff which you can read on the UKCAT website and goes straight to the heart of the UKCAT tests, providing lots of valuable tips and practice.

If you have the budget for just one book, buy this one. It will give you more than all the other books put together.

Average rating of 5/5 Great book for everyone interested in the energy debate., 2009-06-24
Loads of good data that is very convincing. A very important load of facts for persuading the unconvinced.
I have read reviews on this book by climate change sceptics (eg The Sunday Times), where it is suggested his message is that it's hardly worth doing anything as its always going to be too little.
I see the opposite message - it says that anyone who wants to make a difference should push all the harder and yes, do every small thing you can and persuade everyone else to do the same. But especially try to push those in government and the media who with a few very creditable exceptions are useless/hostile on the issue. They are essential if the big decisions are to be made.
MacKay really helps to see how big the solutions need to be.
Read it!

Average rating of 5/5 IEE On-Site Guide: BS 7671 : 2008 IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition, 2009-05-11
I can thoroughly recommend this as the Best Reference Book available for anyone working in the field of "Electricity". This Book is far easier to understand than the very in depth 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Book which I also considered purchasing, I think this Book is ideal for anyone working in the trade.

Average rating of 5/5 I believe it! It's amazing but not incredible!, 2009-05-27
This fills in a lot of the gaps in the programmes, and is not quite so sensational (except for the parts of Alice's journey where things almost went wrong!). While not incredible to anyone with a bit of scientific knowledge, it is very interesting, especially as the bits of the DNA history in the human genome start to bear out many of the theories of migration which were developed since Darwin.

Average rating of 5/5 Cartophilia!, 2009-06-19
Mike Parker, a Rough Guide editor and Welsh-TV travel presenter, has written an enormously and endlessly fascinating book about everything of or pertaining to the British Life of Maps. It's a history, memoir, polemic, paean, psychogeography, and love poem dedicated to the Ordnance Survey map and all things cartographic. And, because Mr Parker is a dryly amusing chap with some fairly cutting observations and insights to share, it's also laugh-out-loud funny in places.

This really is the perfect book for map lovers, and the perfect read for people who didn't even know they cared about maps at all. Written very much from the same stable as books like Cod, Longitude, Salt, The Surgeon of Crowthorne etc, it takes one seemingly small subject and explodes it into something kaleidoscopically fascinating and revealing and inspiring. I couldn't put it down.

Average rating of 5/5 It really works!, 2009-06-06
This book is the real deal. I read another book on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(Feeling Good: The new mood Therapy)and I found it difficult to follow and so I experienced only minimal positive changes in my moods. But this book is very well written and laid out. Its easy to follow and it really does the job it claims to do. I worked through the exercises and was shocked to see what had been rolling around in my thoughts. I was saying very nasty and negative stuff to myself without even being aware of it. This book drags the bad stuff out into the daylight and helps you trace the origin of your moods. I was amazed at the realisation that how I was feeling depended entirely on what I was thinking. So by using this book you can identify why youre feeling not so good and then turn it around so that you feel fine.
I feel sorry for people who suffer from depression and who have resorted to medication just to function in the world. Thats a horrible existance and no way to live because taking pills solves nothing. This book and CBT tackle problems at their very root and leave you feeling reborn. Ditch the pills if youre on them and get this book, I promise you'll be eternally grateful you did.

Average rating of 5/5 Superb little book, buy it!, 2009-06-22
This is a superb little book and is the ideal companion for when you are out and about cloud spotting. It's just the right size to put in a pocket too. The book is packed with great pictures and gives a brief but very descriptive write-up on the cloud in question. There is also a space to fill out where and when you spotted a certain cloud with points awarded too, this could be handy for children (and competitive adults!) if they have a general interest in the weather.

This book will be constantly by my side as I'm sure it will get used daily. For those of you who want to look at more clouds don't forget to have a look at the Cloud Appreciation web site where there is a huge selection of photos.
